British Dance Council
Inventive Dance Competition
Organised by the British Dance Council’s Sequence Advisory Committee
on 7th August 2011
The above event took place on Sunday 7 th August 2011 at Whittick Leisure Centre, and proved to be a huge success.
There were over 450 spectators and 70 professional entries in the 4 competitions covering Classical, Ballroom and Latin Sequence.
This year there was the additional competition to find a new Modern Sequence Quickstep aimed at championship and competitive couples and we had 13 entries in this section which were enthusiastically received by the spectators and proved to be the highlight of the day; the winning dance being invented by Robert and Louise Aldred.
The other winning dances for the regular sections were:
Darren Park & Kathy Thompson – Tango Mariposa
Barry Earnshaw & Beverley Murch Fowkes – Shimmering Waltz
David & Jane Harwood – Swing Jive
The event was graced by the presence of the President of the British Dance Council, Mr. Brian Allen, who also presented the prizes.
The event next year will take place on Sunday 5 th August 2012.
The BDC's thanks go out to all the officials, adjudicators, scrutineers, music men and stewards for their help.
