REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL BDC BALLROOM AND LATIN COMPETITIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS -

You are aware that EADA (England's National Amateur Dancesport Association) withdrew as
Corporate Members of the BDC in December 2010 and following my Press Release on 21 st April 2011 informing you of registration requirements for amateur competitor registration for all BDC competitions and championships, I set out below Rule 15. which applies from 1 st January 2012 to 31 st December 2014

Rule 15: Registration: Juveniles, Juniors and Adult Competitors:

  (a) All competitors, with the exception of beginner grade competitors, who wish to compete in competitions and championships held in Great Britain under British Dance Council rules must be registered with the BDC or any amateur organizations that are corporate members of the BDC.
(b) The registration covers a calendarx year and must be renewed on 1st January regardless of when it was taken out the previous year.
(c) Competitors must carry their registration cards with them and produce them for examination at competition registration points as provided. Entry to competitions or championships will be refused, except in exceptional circumstances, if a valid card cannot be produced.
(d) Registration of a formation team does not entitle members to participate as individuals in competitions. Should members of a team wish to do so they must obtain a valid licence. Registration of a formation team is governed by Rule 48.

(e) Overseas amateur competitors who wish to compete in competitions and championships held under British Dance Council rules must hold a valid registration.

To comply with the Anti-Doping policy, all amateur competitors when registering in England participating in BDC competitions and championships, are required to confirm their acceptance of the BDC rules by signing and returning a BDC registration form to register with the BDC.

When registering with the BDC, upon receipt of your signed form and correct fee the new issue of the BDC rulebook will be forwarded to you with your licence registration card.

Please ensure that you and your partner are correctly registered and obtain your registration numbers from the BDC or the relevant Corporate Member National Amateur Body before entering competitions and/or championships run under BDC rules.

Valid amateur competitor registration can only be obtained from the BDC, Dancesport Scotland or the Welsh Amateur Dancesport Association. Dancesport Scotland and the Welsh Amateur Dancesport Association are the Amateur Corporate Members listed on the BDC website under:   www.british-dance-council.org / about BDC / Corporate Members.
